Making our Matariki kites Part 2

Today we constructed our Matariki kites.  We used Harakeke (Flax) Stalks, Toi toi, Ribbon, Cellophane, Shells and Feathers.
We each had a star and worked in groups.

Waiti - Samantha, Ian, Aarav
Waita - Izabella,  Lauren, Tiffany
Tupu a Nuku - Sophie, Rajeev, Joshua
Tupu a rangi - Andreas, Sanajan, Brendon
Ururangi - Leon, Jenny, Leo
Matariki - Kobi, Ryan, Ryan, Max
Waipuna a rangi - Lily, Stella, and Sebastian
We learnt how to negotiate with each other, tie knots and being careful Kia tupato) around our art works.
Kapai tou mahi ruma tekau ma ono.

  2. I saw the kites on the Sunnyhills Facebook page when I was in Scandinavia a couple of weeks ago. It was great to see the wonderful things happening in Room 16 from the other side of the world.
