Our Enviro Tech Challenge

Today Room 16 read Weslandia by Paul Fleischman, with Mrs Daniel. We talked about the author's messages about sustainability, innovation and being true to yourself.

Next we broke into teams to take part in a tech challenge. Could we build a tower for Weslandia with 20 bamboo skewers, Blutak and 3 rubber bands?

Yes we could! It took lots of talking, problem solving and quite a few fails before BINGO success! Well done Leon, Jenny & Tiffany for creating the tallest tower.

Making our Matariki Kites

This morning we started making our matariki kites.  We got into 7 groups, each group is named after the Seven Stars: Waiti, Waita, Tupu a nuku, Tupu a rangi, Waipuna a rangi, Ururangi and Matariki.
First we decided in our groups the shapes our kites would be then we gathered the dried stalks of the Harakeke to make our frames.
Tomorrow we will begin making our kites.

Whole School Assembly 3 June 2016

We are so so sad that we could not perform our Meaghan Trainor Better When I'm Dancing Dance today.  There has been no power and internet across the school today.  Mrs Newman said we'll get a chance to perform next term.

We have had an on again off again morning!  Many apologies to our parents.
We are so lucky Miss J gave us a holiday on Monday (Queens Birthday Weekend)
Well done to Ryan Dashper for trying  his best in everything he does and giving things a go.
