Today we constructed our Matariki kites. We used Harakeke (Flax) Stalks, Toi toi, Ribbon, Cellophane, Shells and Feathers.
We each had a star and worked in groups.

Tupu a Nuku - Sophie, Rajeev, Joshua
Tupu a rangi - Andreas, Sanajan, Brendon
Ururangi - Leon, Jenny, Leo
Matariki - Kobi, Ryan, Ryan, Max
Waipuna a rangi - Lily, Stella, and Sebastian
We learnt how to negotiate with each other, tie knots and being careful Kia tupato) around our art works.

The Matariki kites are full of colour and great shapes and accessories. Nice work room 16!!

I saw the kites on the Sunnyhills Facebook page when I was in Scandinavia a couple of weeks ago. It was great to see the wonderful things happening in Room 16 from the other side of the world.
